Organic Amendments and Reduced Tillage Accelerate Harvestable C Biomass and Soil C Sequestration in Rice–Wheat Rotation in a Semi-Arid Environment

چکیده

Rice–wheat crop rotations have high carbon fluxes. A 2-year field study in Punjab, Pakistan quantified impacts of different nutrient management on harvestable biomass, crop-derived C, soil organic C sequestration (SCS), and decomposition. Treatments included combinations mineral fertilizer, animal manure (20 Mg ha−1), incorporated residue a split-plot design under conventional tillage (CT) reduced (RT). Combined use fertilizer resulted (1) 12.56% to 53.31% more biomass compared alone (2) 18.27% 60.72% inputs relative using only or across both practices. fertilizer/manure treatments also significantly enhanced SCS alone. Using increased by 63.25% with The relationship between indicated humification (14.50%) decomposition rates (0.46 ha−1 year−1) CT RT at 0–15 cm depth. At 15–30 depth, (10.7%) (0.06 were lower for RT. manure/fertilizer could induce rice–wheat rotations.

Crop rotation and tillage effects on selected soil physical properties of a Typic Haploxerert in an irrigated semi-arid Mediterranean region

Physical, chemical and biological attributes of soil surface are significantly affected by tillage practices and crop rotation. The objective of this study was to determine the short-term (2006-2009) effects of conventional and conservational tillage practices on selected soil physical properties of a heavy clay soil under two wheat-corn and wheatlegume rotation in a semi-arid Mediterranean...

Conservation tillage induced changes in organic carbon, total nitrogen and available phosphorus in a semi-arid alkaline subtropical soil

A multi-year experiment was conducted to compare the effects of conservation tillage (no-till and ridge-till) with conventional plow tillage on organic C, N, and resin-extractable P in an alkaline semi-arid subtropical soil (Hidalgo sandy clay loam, a fine-loamy, mixed, hyperthermic Typic Calciustoll) at Weslaco, TX (26890N 978570W). Tillage comparisons were established on irrigated plots in 19...

Influence of livestock grazing on C sequestration in semi-arid mixed-grass and short-grass rangelands.

We evaluated the effects of livestock grazing on C content of the plant-soil system (to 60 cm) of two semi-arid grasslands: a mixed-grass prairie (grazed 12 years), and a short-grass steppe (grazed 56 years). Grazing treatments included season-long grazing at heavy and light stocking rates, and non-grazed exclosures. Significantly higher soil C (0-30cm) was measured in grazed pastures compared ...

Principal Component Analysis for Soil Conservation Tillage vs Conventional Tillage in Semi Arid Region of Punjab Province of Pakistan

Principal component analysis is a valid method used for data compression and information extraction in a given set of experiments. It is a well-known classical data analysis technique. There are a number of algorithms for solving the problems, some scaling better than others. Wheat ranks as the staple food of most of the nations as well as an agent of poverty reduction, food security and world ...
